Franceso Totti stoppage time penalty sends Roma through to Coppa Italia semi-finals

The Veteran scored a late penalty to win the game 2-1 for Roma against Seria B side Cesena.




Cesena had the chance to take the lead in the first half, with Moussa Kone's shot crashing off the bar in the 24th Minute.

In the 28th minute Roma Goalkeeper Alisson tipped Alejandro Rodiguez's header over the bar.

Roma struggled to break down the Seria B side with the first half ending 0-0.

In the 68th Minute Edin Dzeko broke the deadlock after a Stephan El Shaawaray pass found the Bosnian, to slot the ball at the back of the net.

In the 73rd minute Cesena equalized, When Roma Goalkeeper spilled the ball for the onrushing Luca Garritano to drill the ball into the back of the empty net.

Late in the game Kevin Strootman won a spot-kick and Franceso Totti stepped up and Converted the spot-kick.

Roma coach spaletti hailed the player calling him the Muhammad Ali of football.

He said : "When Totti plays – but it's the same in training and even when he's playing with his boy – he's the Muhammad Ali of football, always looking to land that knockout blow: to swing the punch no one else can see."

Roma will face Lazio in the semi-finals.
