Ex Bayern and Liverpool Star Alonso to retire at the end of season

Bayern Munich and Former Liverpool Midfielder Xabi Alonso has confirmed he will retire at the end of the Season.


In an interview on Bayern TV he said :  It wasn't an easy decision to make, but I believe it's the right time.

"I always thought it would be better to quit now rather than later. I still feel good, but I believe this is the right moment."

The Ex Liverpool Midfielder has won the Champions league, European Championship, League titles, Cups and also the World Cup.

The Bayern Munich midfielder began his career with Real Sociedad in Spain, he helped the club qualify for the Champions League in the 2003 - 04 season, they were eventually knocked out by Lyon.

Benitez signed Alonso for over £10 million in 2004, he won the Champions league a year later, Scoring the equalizing goal to make it 3-3 a game liverpool eventually won in the penalty shoot-out.


A year later he won the FA Cup with Liverpool. he went on to become vital for Liverpool with his Long range passes, incredible goals and his aggressive style of play.

He joined Real Madrid for £30 million in 2009, he won the Copa del Rey a year later.

He won the League title in his third season with club. In 2014 he won his second Champions league, Real Madrid defeated Athletico Madrid 4 - 1.

He joined Bayern Munich that same year. he scored his first goal for his new club from a freekick against Werder Bremen in the League.

He also won the league title and German Cup with the club.

The Spanish midfielder won various trophies with his country He won Euro 2008 and 2012, he also won the 2010 world Cup.

The Ex Liverpool Midfielder has established himself as one of the best midfielder's to play the game, with his long range passes and shots, he is also a dead ball Specialist.

At 35 he is still a vital player for Bayern Munich and he has chosen to retire from the game at the top of his game.
