Messi's late strike wins El Clasico battle

Lionel Messi broke Real Madrid's heart by scoring late in the game to secure a 3-2 win for Barcelona in the El Clasico.


Messi who scored twice in the game to help his side go level on points with Madrid at the top of the table who also have a game in hand.

With Neymar out for Barcelona due to suspension Paco Alcacer replaces the Brazillian in the starting line-up.

With Pepe and Varane injured Nacho continues alongside Sergio Ramos in Central defence, Bale was able to shake off an injury problem to start the game he was eventually taken off in the 38th minute due to another injury.

Casmeiro got the first goal of the game, before Lionel Messi equalized few minutes after, with 17 minutes to go Ivan Rakitic put Barcelona ahead.

Sergio Ramos was shown a straight red card in the 77th minute for a foul on Messi before James Rodriguez equalized for Madrid in the 85th minute.

Messi broke Madrid fans heart with the winning goal in the 92nd minute.

Real Madrid had a penalty shout turned down by the referee three minutes into the game, after Umtiti fouled Ronaldo in the box.

Ronaldo almost got the opener in the 21st minute but Ter Stegen was able to get a hand to his shot. he was also able to easily catch Bale's tame effort in the 23rd minute after the Welshman shot straight at the goalkeeper.




Casemiro put Madrid ahead in the 28th minute scoring a rebound after Sergio Ramos's header came off the post.

Five minutes after Messi equalized for Barcelona, he was picked out with a lovely pass by Rakitic he beat Carvajal easily before putting the ball into the net.

Madrid almost went ahead again with Modric unleasing a shot from 25 yards only to be thwarted by Ter Stegen.

Gareth Bale limps off with another injury in the 38th minute he is replaced by Asensio.

Messi missed a sitter on the stroke of half time Rakitic bends a corner inside the box Navas came out but he could not get the ball, the ball falls to Messi only for the Argentine to miss the goal from few yards.

Real Madrid began the second half well with Benzema forcing a save from Ter Stegen in the 53rd minute.

Two minutes after Alcacer goalbound effort was saved by the legs of Navas before saving piques header from a corner kick few minutes after.

Ivan Rakitic put Barcelona ahead with a left footed shot from the edge of the box inside 72 minutes.

More woes for the hosts as Sergio Ramos was sent off in the 77th minute for a bad tackle on Lionel Messi.

Madrid got the equalizer despite Barcelona's numerical advantage with substitute James Rodriguez finishing from close range in the 85th minute.

More drama ensued as Lionel Messi grabbed the winning goal in the 92nd minute guiding home a wonderful cross from Jordi Alba.

With this victory the race for the la liga title is wide open, Barcelona are level on points with Madrid who still have a game in hand.

The pressure is on Real Madrid with just few games to go they can't afford to lose another match.
