Chelsea Verge securing EPL title

Chelsea defeated Middlesbrough 3-0 at Stamford Bridge to send them to the Championship and put themself just one win away from securing the EPL title.

After Tottenham's defeat to West Ham Chelsea needed a win against Middlesbrough to pull them seven points clear of Tottenham in which they did with an impressive performance.

Middlesbrough are now relegated to the Championship joining Sunderland who were related two weeks back.

Chelsea started the game making just a replacement Fabregas coming in for the injured Kante. Traore also returned to the starting line-up for Boro.

Alonso almost put Chelsea ahead just two minutes into the game unleasing a volley that hits the ground Guzan was on hand to push it onto the bar.

Fabregas should have scored for Chelsea in the 17th minute but his shot from the edge of the box sailed just off the target.

Diego Costa put Chelsea ahead in the 23rd minute connecting with a Fabregas pass, taking a touch before slotting past the goalkeeper.

11 minutes after Alonso scored the second goal receiving a lovely pass from Azpilicueta before sending the ball into the net.

Moses should have made it three in the 37th minute but his weak shot from inside the box was saved comfortably by Guzan.

Boro struggled to create any clear cut chance in the first half as Chelsea dominated play, they continued their dominance in the second half with Pedro rattling the cross bar in the 46th minute.

Cahill stung Guzan's palm with a ferocious shot in the 54th minute but there was no Chelsea player around the box to slot in the rebound.

Matic made it three in the 65th minute Fabregas once again providing the assist for Matic to control on his chest before slotting the ball under Guzan.

Chelsea created another goal scoring chance in the 79th minute but Guzan was on hand to save Moses goal bound shot.

The game ended 3-0 with Chelsea needing just a win from three matches to secure the title. middlesbrough will be joining Sunderland playing Championship football next season.
