West Ham Ruins Tottenham's Title Aspirations

Struggling West Ham United ruined Tottenham's title aspiration by defeating them 1-0 at the London stadium.

Tottenham needed a win to put them a point behind Chelsea who play Middlesbrough on Monday. but they  failed to secure the three points with Manuel Lanzini scoring the only goal of the game.

West Ham made just a change to the side that drew against Stoke City with Mark Noble, Sam Bryan and Aaron Cresswell replacing Nordtveit, Edmilson Fernandez and Arthur Masuaku. While Tottenham made just a change to the side that defeated Arsenal Kyle Walker replacing Kieran Trippier.

West Ham had the first attempt on goal Kouyate's weak header from a Lanzini freekick was easily gathered by Lloris.

Tottenham almost got the opener in the 21st minute as Adrian failed to hold Harry Kane's 25 yards shot, the rebound falls to Son whose effort was blocked by Fonte, the ball falls back to Harry Kane whose shot from 15 yards was saved by Adrian's leg.

West Ham created another chance in the 27th minute when Lanzini was played through on goal, he attempts to go around the goalkeeper but the Lloris manages to knock the ball off him with his knee the ball falls to Kouyate whose first time effort went wide of the goal.

Eriksen missed the first clear cut chance of the second half, sending a weak effort from 8 yards straight at Adrian before setting up Son few minutes after whose goalbound strike was saved by Adrian.

Manuel Lanzini scored the opening and only goal of the game in the 65th minute after Spurs failed to clear Cresswell's cross the ball falls to Lanzini who smashes the ball into the back of the net.

They almost doubled their lead in the 75th minute when Toby Alderweireld gave the ball away to Calleri in the penalty area he skips past Eric Dier before shooting from seven yards out, but Lloris saves with a strong left hand.

Spurs could not get the equalizer instead it was the host who almost added the second goal deep into stoppage time Lloris was able to block Fletcher's effort.

Chelsea now need to win two of their 4 remaining games to secure the EPL title. They play Middlesborough on monday night.
